In this example I bought a 12 pack of solar
powered path lights for $30.
The globe is just a plastic bell that snaps into the top.
The top contains all the guts and would
be the easiest place to store our SSR board.
Open the top and using a flat headed
screwdriver carefully remove the solar panel from the
top
using a X-acto knife cut out the battery
compartment so you can remove the electronics in one piece.
Save all the electronics for a future project.
Now you can remove all the electronics
through the hole used for the solar cell.
HOT GLUE... its like duct tape but
hurts more. Use it to mount the stand offs (in this
case concrete anchors that are cut into thirds)
Screw the standoffs onto the board the apply hot glue and
hold into position for a few seconds.
the top cover needs to be cut to allow for
plugging in the RJ45 (leave room for a finger since the
bottom of the RJ45 is facing away from you. Also drill
a few holds for your power cables.
The SSR fits nicely into the top under the
cover.
add RJ45 and wires.
Drill holes into stake tube (far enough up
to avoid blocking the stake. and into the globe bottom.
With everything wired up.
push into ground. the top will need a
square piece of plastic hot glued to cover the old solar
cell hole. (if you don't care about saving the solar
cells just leave them in)
